Police searching for 58 Mart carjacking suspect

Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 58 Mart located at 8909 Highway 58 on a reported carjacking on Sunday night.  

The victim told police he was sitting in his truck at the 58 Mart when a white male opened the door and forcefully removed him from the vehicle while assaulting him. Police tell Channel 3, the suspect gained control of the truck and fled north on Highway 58 with the vehicle.  

The victim received minor injuries as a result of being assaulted and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  

The suspect left a vehicle in the parking lot at the store, which later was found to be stolen out of Bradley County.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 20-year-old Richard David Dillard, from Bradley County. Felony arrest warrants have been obtained for Dillard in this case. Those warrants include: Carjacking, Felony Reckless Endangerment & Felony Vandalism.   

Dillard also has active felony arrest warrants in Bradley County. Investigators tell Channel 3 at this time, the whereabouts of Richard David Dillard are unknown.  

Dillard is a resident of Bradley County with no known ties to Hamilton County.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is requesting anyone with information on the whereabouts of Richard David Dillard to contact the Sheriff’s dispatcher at 423-622-0022.
