Want to Fight Ebola? Doctors' Group Has a Job for You

Posted: Updated:
NBC News - One of the main groups fighting the Ebola crisis in West Africa is looking for help.

“Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is actively looking for medical personnel who can assist us with the Ebola crisis in West Africa,” the group says in a statement. “We are looking for physicians and nurses who would be able to work in our health structures, and for water and sanitation experts with experience working in health facilities and with isolation wards and infection control.”

Ebola has killed 1,400 people out of 2,600 infected in the current outbreak in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. It's the worst outbreak of the virus ever seen, and is not anywhere near to being controlled, the World Health Organization says. Health personnel are in the worst danger, as they are in the closest contact with patients. It's risky work, and MSF says it wants professionals who are used to working with highly contagious diseases. Apply here.

Separately, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Tom Frieden said he'd visit Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone next week to see the outbreak first hand. CDC has sent nearly 70 scientists and staff to help organize the response to the outbreak.

    Great Weather Headed Our Way

    Tuesday, August 22 2017 5:13 AM EDT2017-08-22 09:13:02 GMT

Good Tuesday.  We will be hot and humid again today with the high reaching 93 degrees.  The heat index will top out in the upper 90s.  While we will see clouds building through the day, the chance for rain is very small, less than 20%. Wednesday marks a big change in our weather.  We will see a cold front moving through which will bring scattered showers to the area late Wednesday morning into early afternoon.
