Athens storm clean up

Posted: Updated:
MCMINN COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - Crews and volunteers worked overtime on Thursday picking up large pieces of metal that ripped from the Clearwater Volunteer Fire Department's roof  in Athens, TN. Truck beds were filled with shredded metal and debris, it was all hauled to a scrap metal yard.

Dewayne Evens lives near County Line Road 172 where mother nature hit hard with winds averaging 90 miles an hour Wednesday evening.  He says, the heavy debris barely missed his front windows landing right on his front door step instead. Dewayne lives one mile away from where the storm hit and says it is a blessing no one was hurt.

Insurance paperwork has been filed. Blue tarps will cover the roof until approval is received to replace it.
