Scattered storms today, mid 90s late week

Posted: Updated:
(WRCB) - Good Monday.  It looks as though our fairytale summer is coming to a sizzling, muggy end.  While the first half of the week will sport normal temperatures with increased humidity and scattered storms, the second half will be characterized by above normal temps in the mid 90s, and heat index values exceeding 100 degrees.

For today, we have already seen 2"-4" of rain.  Things have tapered now, but we still may see a few isolated storms heading through the afternoon. Look for a high of 89 if we get enough of a break in the clouds.

Tonight, we may see a few evening showers or storms, but they will taper to only one or two isolated areas of rain late tonight and overnight.  lows will stay warm in the low 70s.

Tuesday we will have a high near 90 with the rain chance dwindling a bit, but still be on the lookout for the occasional afternoon thunderstorm or two.

Wednesday is when the heat really kicks in.  I expect a high of about 93, but with the moisture in the air it will feel like 95-100 degrees during the heat of the day.  There is only the slight chance for an isolated afternoon storm.

Thursday through the weekend I, unfortunately, don't see any change.  Each day will have a high of 95 or 96 degrees.  The heat index each day will range from 98 to 103.  Any chance for rain to briefly cool us down will be small, only about 20%.
