CHATTANOOGA,TN -(Lookouts.com)-- In a very tough and hard-fought game, the Chattanooga Lookouts (26-27) dropped the series finale to the Jacksonville Suns (32-23) by a final score of 9-8, in front of an energetic crowd of 5,300 fans.

It took no time at all for the Lookouts' offense to get started since their leadoff hitter Darnell Sweeney hit a triple into the right field gap on only the third pitch thrown by the Suns' starting pitcher, Dustin Moseley. On the very next pitch, Angel Sanchez legged out an infield single that was deflected by Moseley, giving the Lookouts an early lead. Sanchez was able to score the second run of the game three batters later on a throwing error by Yosmany Guerra, the second baseman for the Suns.

Sanchez gave the Lookouts another run in his next at-bat by sneaking a ball just over the wall down the left field line to lead off the bottom of the third inning. That three run cushion was short-lived, however, as the Suns would close the gap to just one run in the next half-inning. The Suns eventually took a 4-3 lead on back-to-back sacrifice flies in the sixth inning by Joe Benson and Brent Keys.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Daniel Mayora led off the inning with a single. Hustling out of the box, Mayora made it to second base when the Suns' center fielder bobbled the ball for a brief moment. Corey Seager was next to bat and he pushed a grounder between the first and second baseman for his first hit of the night and a RBI.

The Suns didn't let that stand for long, either, scoring three more runs in the next two innings. O'Koyea Dickson made things interesting in the bottom of the eighth inning, however. After a walk was issued to Seager, Dickson smashed a deep home run to bring the score back to within a single run, 7-6.

The Suns grabbed two insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning, which became very important when the Lookouts came to bat the final time. Mayora hit a two-out single to bring home Sanchez, who reached second base on a fielding error by the center fielder. Mayora took second base on fielder's indifference, and Seager singled him home. It was all that the Lookouts could muster, though, losing the heartbreaking game, 9-8.

The Lookouts are heading out on the road tomorrow for five games against the Birmingham Barons and follow that up with five games against the Jackson Generals. They will be back home on August 28th to begin the final series of the regular season against the Tennessee Smokies. That game will begin at 7:15 pm.

Notes: Seager's sixth inning hit gave him a 15-game hitting streak, the longest active hitting streak in the Southern League. Since joining the Lookouts on July 19th, Seager has recorded a hit in 21 of his 23 games and has a batting average of .352.
