OOLTEWAH, TN (WRCB) - UPDATE: A domestic dispute over the weekend turned deadly Monday when one of the victims involved died from his injuries.

Deputies responded to the scene on Short Tail Springs Road in Ooltewah around 6:30 Saturday night, where they found two victims with serious injuries.

Investigators haven’t released much about the investigation, but we’re learning more about the couple through those that knew them.

“I knew it was Linda from across the street, but it didn’t look like Linda,” one neighbor told us.

Channel 3 spoke with a neighbor, who asked us not to use her name, who helped save the woman’s life by calling 911 and controlling the bleeding before responders go there. She says she will never forget what she saw.

“Blood. Her throat was cut on both sides. Her left wrist was cut,” she said.

Neighbors tell us Linda lived across the street with her long-time boyfriend, Robert Boyle, 52.

The couple was nice, but typically kept to themselves.

That is until Saturday, when something went terribly wrong.

“She said she needed help, that he had attacked her and she had stood up for herself,” the neighbor said.

Neighbors believe Linda stabbed Boyle in self-defense before running across the street for help. Boyle later died from his injuries.

“When I shut my eyes I can still see her face. It’s just real upsetting to see someone that traumatized and that hurt and not know what’s going on,” she said.

Boyle worked at Ooltewah High School where he is listed as Head Custodian.

Principal Jim Jarvis sent Channel 3 this statement: “Robert was a longtime employee here and he did a good job for us. He took great pride in his work. We are so sad to hear about this. We will miss him at Ooltewah High School.”

We may never know what happened inside this home, but neighbors say they’ll never forget the quiet couple across the street.

“It happens everywhere but you just wouldn’t think it would happen next door,” she said.

No one has been charged in this case.
