Savannah police: 6 hurt in car chase after robbery

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Police in Savannah say six bystanders were injured, three of them seriously, in a chain of car crashes with robbery suspects being chased by officers.
Savannah-Chatham County police said Saturday that 35-year-old Christopher Eugene Smith and 37-year-old Keith Enmon Pendergraph were arrested late Friday after their SUV crashed into four vehicles.
Police say a gunman stole a cash drawer from a Dollar General store and sped away. Several patrol cars spotted an SUV matching the getaway vehicle's description, and the suspects tried to flee in a busy commercial area.
Police said three people in a car struck while exiting a parking lot were hospitalized with serious injuries. Three others in a truck hit at a red light also requested treatment.
It was not immediately known if the suspects had attorneys.
