One person is in custody after a three hour police standoff in Dalton.

It started around 6 Wednesday night when David Dyer was reportedly in a crash on 5th Avenue. Police say he left the scene before they got there.

A Dalton police officer went to Dyer's house on Elaine Way. Members of Dyer's family met the officer outside, telling him the suspect had a gun and had told them to leave.

After making sure there was no one else inside the house, police set up a perimeter and tried to make contact but were not successful.

They found him three hours later in the garage where he was apparently passed out. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

He faces several traffic charges as well as obstruction of law enforcement.
