UPDATE: Mark Strange has been found safe at a Brainerd Road Starbucks coffee shop according to the Chattanooga Police Department.

PREVIOUS STORY: A Chattanooga man says he is desperate to find his nephew. The 40-year-old missing man served in the Army  for 10 years and was last seen in the parking lot of ITT Tech at Eastgate Mall.

His uncle says he was temporarily living in his car while taking classes at the school.

Forty-year-old Mark Strange was reported missing last week. He says the circumstances surrounding his disappearance do not add up and he is very concerned he could be in serious trouble.

"He was a straight up guy, you know? He was just trying to get by in the world like everybody else. I don't know. I don't know. I just don't what to think about the situation. I really don't," says John Mackie, Mark Strange's Uncle.

John Mackie says the disappearance of his nephew is one big mystery.

"I think probably something bad has happened."

Forty-year-old Strange is a veteran. He served 10 years in the Army.

"He did three tours in Iraq," says Mackie.

About a year ago, Strange moved from California and eventually moved in with his uncle.

"He stayed with me for about eight months and didn't work and I finally told him he needed to leave if he wasn't going to work."

Mark was able to get government assistance to start taking computer classes at ITT Tech in East Brainerd.

"He was excited about going to school," says Mackie.

Mackie says he was encouraged to see Mark trying to get back on his feet, although it was tough to see him living out of his car.

"I'm sad the way the situation is."

He says over the two weeks he was living in the Eastgate parking lot, he would check in on Mark to make sure he was okay. But one day when he went to visit him, he was gone.

"I just haven't seen him since and I don't know what happened to him and I'm real concerned," says Mackie.

Mackie says it does not make sense.

Channel 3 asked if Strange has a reason not to be found and he answered, "No, I don't believe so."

He says shortly before he disappeared, Mark was expecting another assistance check to come in.
"I assume that if you were staying in your car, you'd want to get your check."

Mark has been listed in the National Crime Information Center database. He was last seen in a green 2002 Mitsubishi Galant with Tennessee license plate F7885X.

"I just think something bad has happened to him and I think he needs to be found."

Mark Strange stands at 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He is bald and has blue eyes. If you have any information on his whereabouts call police.
