UPDATE: Minor earthquake in East Tennessee upgraded to 2.3 magnitude

POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

The minor earthquake that hit parts of East Tennessee and North Georgia was been upgraded from a 2.1 to a 2.3 magnitude.  It hit the area around 9:00 p.m. Friday.

The U. S. G. S. now shows the minor earthquake hit roughly 9 miles north northwest of McCaysville, GA, and 11 miles underground.   This area includes Turtletown and Ducktown in Polk County.

No damage nor injuries were reported.
