Bradley County, along with several other Tennessee counties, is the recipient of the Recreational Trails Program grant.
Governor Bill Haslam and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau announced over $1.2 million in grants to recipients Friday.
The Charleston-Calhoun-Hiwassee Historical Society of Bradley County will receive $200,000 to develop trails, trailhead parking and trail signs.
The Recreational Trails Program is a federally funded program established to distribute funding for diverse recreation trail projects. The funds are available to federal, state and local government agencies, as well as nonprofit organizations.
