Wet and stormy weekend ahead

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - A wet Friday and weekend ahead as periods of showers and storms move through the Tennessee Valley.

Warm, humid air and a frontal system add up to more scattered showers and storms Friday. There may be more this morning but the bulk of them will likely be this afternoon, fading this evening. More showers and storms develop this weekend but it won't rain all day Saturday and Sunday. The rain and storms will come in waves "off and on". The rain could be heavy at times and some storms may produce small hail and gusty winds, but storms are not expected to reach official severe limits. Highs through Sunday won't be as hot, in the 80s, with lows in the lower 70s.

Storms chances should decrease Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 80s. Right now long-range computer models are hinting at a drying trend Wednesday and Thursday with more sunshine and highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s, lows in the 60s.

Tropical Storm Iselle has made landfall on the island of Hawaii and will move west of the other islands over the next couple days. Hurricane Julio is expected to brush east of the islands this weekend.
