Dining out this weekend?

The inspectors at the Hamilton County Health Department had a good week reporting a lot of scores in the nineties.

However, there is a failing grade of a 69 to pass along to you and the news isn't good from signal mountain if you like Mexican food.

Remember a failing grade is any score lower than a 70.

Inspectors at Ayala's Mexican Restaurant found chicken and beef at the wrong temperature

According to Chief Inspector Jack Falcon that means food must be stored at either 41 degrees or below or 135 degrees or above to be the proper temperature. If the temperature is off by ten degrees then the food must be thrown out.

At Ayala's, inspectors also found cooks were not washing their hands after handling raw chicken, utensils were not being cleaned properly and chemicals were being stored with food.

They have ten days to correct all critical violations.

The high score of the week is a tie. Listen to this - how about a 100 at the Black Skillet on Fourth Avenue and Doc's Pizza Station on Highway 60 in Birchwood. Great work by all employees.

Remember, any complaints about a restaurant, hotel or motel, day care or a place you work out, call the Hamilton County Health Department Hotline at (423) 209-8110 or feel free to email me and I'll pass your comments to the Health Department.
