Parents have tradition for first day of school

Hamilton and Whitfield Counties, and Dalton City Schools opened their doors Thursday and students filed in to the classroom.
Bus drivers were out early Thursday morning to check their buses and get ready to start their routes.
At Normal Park Elementary, students arrived for the first day of school.
Parents say there is a lot of excitement and anticipation about the new school year.
One mom says she makes sure to keep her own "back to school" records.    

Julie and Phillip Lewis, parents of 2nd grader, "It's our tradition to take a first day picture. With school in the background to show how much he's growing."
Friday Bradley, Meigs and Rhea County students will all hear the school bell for the first time in months.  A signal summer is officially over.
