Minor earthquakes hit East Tennessee hours apart

Part of East Tennessee were shaken Friday morning by two minor magnitude earthquakes.

The first happened around 10:30a.m., roughly 2 miles from Athens in McMinn County.  It registered at 2.0.  The second happened just after 12:30p.m. around 2 miles from Greenback which is located in Blount County. 

 Both earthquakes were minor and the magnitudes were too low to have any effect.

In July, Tennessee as ranked among the highest states at risk to have an earthquake by the U. S. Geological Survey.
