KNOXVILLE (News Sentinel) - TVA is settling for $27.8 million a mass environmental legal action filed by more than 850 Roane County residents over the catastrophic Kingston coal-ash spill.

The joint motion for entry of judgment was filed Friday morning in U.S. District Court in Knoxville.

“We anticipate this will bring closure to this litigation,” TVA spokesman Duncan Mansfield said.
