Tennessee teens help build play area in Houston

Posted: Updated:

HOUSTON, Miss. (AP) - A group of teenagers from Calvary Church in Cordova, Tennessee, are spending a week in Houston, Mississippi working for free.

The teens are helping Fellowship Church of the Nazarene fulfill one of its dreams. Calvary Church youth pastor Daniel Medders tells WTVA-TV (http://bit.ly/WKPqQk ) that Fellowship didn't have a place for their kids to play so his church decided to partner with them to help fund and build a play area.

Medders says building the playground is part of the group's mission work. He says most of the load of lumber used for the project was paid for by the teens.

The teens say the fellowship with the Mississippi church is worth dealing with the not-so-ideal accommodations, including sleeping on air mattresses and showering at the state park at Davis Lake.
