During this heavy storm season, we often remind our viewers of the importance of a weather radio.

But hearing impaired people still can't receive severe weather warnings.  That's why Signal Centers Technology Services hosted a free  expo Thursday night.

It  featured technology to help those who are deaf or hard of hearing maintain an active, independent lifestyle.

Steve Powell, Signal Centers Assistive Technology, "even for someone who's deaf or hard of hearing they're not going to hear those types of things happen, so this radio is especially adapted so they'll be a shaker that'll shake or a flasher that will flash to let them know an alert is coming across the system."

This was the 4th year for this unique expo, organizers hope to be back next year.
