COBB COUNTY, GA (WXIA) -- A child died after being left in a hot car on Wednesday, according to authorities.

According to Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce, a father went to work around 9 a.m. Cobb County police said that the father was supposed to bring the 22-month-old boy to daycare. Instead he went to work, apparently forgetting that the child was strapped in his car seat in the back of the vehicle.

As he was driving home from work around 4 p.m., he noticed that his son was in the back seat and pulled over at Akers Mill Square on Cobb Parkway.

The father tried to perform CPR on the boy, according to a witness. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
