Chattanooga Firefighters are investigating a possible overnight arson.

Officials say they responded to a fire on Somerville Avenue just after midnight Thursday.

Firefighters reported smoke and flames coming from the back of the house. Crews had to force their way inside to fight the fire.

The fire was beginning to spread to the attic but firefighters were able to contain it to the back of the house. Damage is estimated around $25,000.

Fire investigators say the house has been unoccupied for two years and was in the process of being renovated. There was no power to the structure.

Officials are investigating the fire as arson.
