Hot, humid pattern continues through the rest of the week

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Good Tuesday.  Expect more heat and humidity with very little in the way of rain through the weekend.

A stubborn ridge of high pressure will continue to keep a light southerly wind flow over the area.  That will translate into lots of heat and humidity, but the high pressure will also cap the atmosphere, and not allow for much (if any) rainfall.

Today will be similar to yesterday with the high reaching 94, and the heat index near 100.  This will basically be the forecast through the rest of the week.

For the weekend, our highs may slip into the 90 or 91 degree range with the rain chance increasing slightly as the ridge of high pressure slightly releases its grip.

Our best chance of rain comes with a system moving through Monday and Tuesday.  We will start next week with a 50% to 60% chance of showers and storms.
