It's a pleasant surprise for the youngest of Erlanger Medical Center's patients Monday morning, an unexpected visit from the Tennessee Smokies All-Star contingent of Kris Bryant, pitchers Corey Black, Armando Rivero, and P.J. Francescon.
"Landon?, yeah, I know you're name, do you know mine? No? I'm P.J.," says the native of Nolensville, Tennessee.
"We're all willing to do this, yeah, I think this is part of the job, we're professional baseball players," says Kris Bryant.
Bryant, the Smokies third baseman, knows meet and greets such as this, mean a lot to those fighting to regain their health, and a normal childhood.
"Spending a few minutes with a kid who isn't doing too well,  it makes a world of difference for them," says Bryant.
Bryant and company warm up for Tuesday's all-star affair by wielding the sharpie for a patient's personal autograph.
"Can you smile Landon?"
"Hospitals like this, making kids smile, I think if we're doing that then we're doing our job," Bryant says confidently.
The All-Stars get into the swing of things later today with the annual home-run derby, this year held at Historic Engel Stadium.
