Crime Stoppers: Duo uses deception to rob store

Posted: Updated:

Working together, a criminal duo liberated the day's take from East Ridge Hardware on Ringgold Road.

They struck on a Wednesday morning, May 21st. "Well, obviously, these guys are in cahoots," explained Chattanooga Police Sgt. Daniel Jones.

"As they enter, one guy actually starts looking around and grabs the attention of the manager. Once he gets the attention of the manager, his compadre goes in back of the back office, back there."

It is probably no coincidence, that was the location of the store strongbox. "As he's in the back," Sgt. Jones continued, "in the office, he ends up getting into their money drawer, takes the money drawer, he leaves, as he leaves, the manager hears the doorbell."

When the manager went to check on the chimes, the first guy slipped back out the front door. The two are said to have fled together in a black SUV, possibly a Chevy Trailblazer.

Check the pictures of our suspects again. Their take was over $1,000. We have up to $1,000 for you by way of reward cash if you can identify them.

"They've got distinguishing features that somebody's gonna recognize," said Jones. "They're even wearing clothing that's very distinguishable."

If you know anything about these guys or the crime which may help East Ridge Detectives in this investigation, call Crime Stoppers: (423) 698-3333
