Rossville man accused of multiple child sex crimes

Posted: Updated:
ROSSVILLE, GA (WRCB) - A North Georgia man is accused of several sex crimes against children including molestation and rape. Detectives in Rossville say more charges are likely coming against 28-year-old Christopher Holmes as they continue reviewing evidence.

Rossville Police started investigating Holmes in mid-May when he was reported for showing nude photographs of juveniles on his cell phone around his apartment complex. Detectives say that started a sex crime investigation that's revealed multiple victims.

Officers arrested Christopher Holmes at his home in Happy Valley Apartments in Rossville where residents say he was sharing explicit photos of kids on his phone. Rossville detectives say Holmes had molested some of those pictured. Weeks of investigation led them to at least four possible victims, ranging in age from toddler to early teens, boy and girl.

"Devastation, depression, anxiety, just the whole nine yards. It's just not something you want to hear about in a family complex," neighbor Catrina Morgan said.

Catrina Morgan has lived in the complex for the last 18 years while raising her son. Several residents tell Channel 3 they are rattled to learn an accused sexual predator has been living among so many children.

"It's heartbreaking. Even though this is a small little complex it's still, you have to watch your kids these days," Morgan said.

Holmes is in the Walker County Jail facing charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation and statutory rape. Those are crimes local trauma therapist Susanne Green sees repeated over and over.

"The young child becomes the victim and all they know is being victimized and then they become the abuser," trauma therapist Susanne Green said.

While she does not know specifics on this case, she wants more mental health programs for sexual offenders and victims.

"It has to stop and the more you put money on both ends, but mostly the children because you want to stop the cycle early on," Green said.

Detectives say there is more to this investigation and anticipate more charges and victim to come forward. Christopher Holmes remains behind bars without a set bond.
