Deadly head-on collision in Whitfield County

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a deadly accident that happened in Whitfield County Saturday morning.

Troopers say the crash happened just after 9:30 am near the intersection of Dawnville Road and Groves Drive.

Investigators say 56-year-old Emory Hess of Crandall apparently tried to pass a car in front of him and hit another vehicle head-on. Hess did not survive the crash.

Three people in the other vehicle were taken the hospital in stable condition. GSP is waiting on blood test results to help determine an exact cause of the accident.
