Berke joins First Lady in getting veterans off the streets

Posted: Updated:
Chattanooga mayor Andy Berke is wanting to get each and every veteran off the street.

The mayor is joining First Lady Michelle Obama and other mayors across the U. S. to end chronic veteran homelessness in Chattanooga.
Berke says it's a collaborative effort with other organizations, including the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
He says part of the plan is finding and talking with every veteran on the street to help meet their needs.

In theory the project will give homeless vets access to resources and stable housing.  Berke will also have a task force that will work to find long term solutions.
