UPDATE: Graysville officials call emergency meeting to discus police dept. future

Posted: Updated:
RHEA COUNTY, TN -
UPDATE: Graysville city officials have called an emergency meeting Monday night at 6:45 to discuss the future of the police department.

Chief Erik Redden was suspended without pay Thursday night. A grand jury indicted him earlier this month, on several counts of misconduct and theft.

The charges stem from a TBI investigation amid allegations into his handling of evidence.

Monday night's meeting is to discuss who will become interim chief pending the outcome of Redden's case.

Graysville Police Chief Jason "Erik" Redden was in court, requesting to push back his arraignment to allow for more time to get an attorney. Judge Curtis Smith rescheduled the hearing for July 17th.

Redden remains chief of police for Graysville amid the allegations that stem from a lengthy TBI investigation into his handling of evidence.

A Rhea County grand jury indicted Redden this week on several counts of misconduct and theft.

Graysville leaders say they still haven't decided how to handle the situation.
