Riverbend Festival 2014: Get to know Cody McCarver
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
Cody McCarver is a country singer, songwriter, and musician from Dunlap, TN.
His music career began at age nine while playing piano in a small church. He taught himself to play multiple other instruments and at age 17, his career in country music began.
McCarver spent 12 years in the multi-platinum selling band Confederate Railroad, performing an average of a 100 shows a year.
But in 2009, he went his own way. McCarver went to Capitol Studios in Hollywood and recorded his first self-titled, solo album.
It went pretty well for him. His first single, “Red Flag,” was a Top 25 single and a number one video for 12 consecutive weeks.
McCarver’s patriotic anthem “I’m America,” came with an accompanying video featuring Charlie Daniels. It was this single that led McCarver around the country doing over 30 shows for our American Troops, in conjunction with Operation Troop Aid and the Wounded Warriors program.
McCarver also works with a program that helps children whose parents are incarcerated, as his own father is serving a life sentence in prison.
The song, “Through Gods Eyes,” also spawned a DVD documentary filmed inside the Tennessee State prison where his father is incarcerated.
Cody McCarver will perform on the Bud Light Stage at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10.
