If someone needs an alternative to alternative music, then wait until Young the Giant perform.

After meeting each other in high school, this alternative rock band made up of members Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley, Eric Cannata, Payam Doostzadeh, and Francois Comtois formed in Irvine, California and started flooding the music scene immediately after getting together. They were formerly known as The Jakes, but later changed their name to Young the Giant.

Their unique sound and soaring lead vocalist have made hits such as “My Body”, “Cough Syrup”, and “Apartment.”

They have been on top of the charts in the alternative genre and continue to showcase their skills through pouring out new music. Their latest singles and music have made the top 100 on the billboard charts and their music is still climbing the charts today.

The band currently released their latest album called “Mind Over Matter.” The new album is putting out a heavier sound than what Young the Giant fans are used too.

Young the Giant became well-known after opening up for several shows on one of The Kings of Leon tours. It was then after that the hits became bigger and they were eventually signed by Roadrunner Records.

Young the Giant will close the Riverbend Festival on the Coca-Cola Stage at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14.
