The "Take One Program" has officially kicked off in Chattanooga.

Tuesday morning a prayer breakfast was held at the Olivet Baptist Church.

The program looks for offenders who are close to being freed and mentors them for the year before their release.

The mentor also stays with the offender and the family for about a year afterward.

The mission is to help the person behind bar reenter into society smoothly.

The mentors come from a variety of organizations throughout Tennessee.
