ELLIJAY, GA (WXIA) Noah Pinson had just finished playing on the slides at River Park in Ellijay with his five-year-old sister and father. At 9:00 Friday night, they walked back to their car in the parking lot. They were packing up at the family van when a silver Ford Fusion sped by, striking Noah.

The park is right across the street from the North Georgia Medical Center.

Ellijay Police say the father picked up the injured boy and raced across the street. The father said the car had a drive out tag, and he couldn't identify the driver.

Ellijay Police called in the Georgia State Patrol's Special Collision Reconstruction Team. They tracked the driver to Waleska, Georgia. Jordan Allen Hyde, 26, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and serious injury by vehicle. He bonded out on $6,000.

At 5:55 Sunday night, Noah died. Charges were upgraded to first-degree vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of drugs. He was re-arrested and charged with the upgraded charges and is now being held without bond at the Gilmer County Detention Center.
