Help neighbors this summer in the Salvation Army's "Beat the Heat" campaign

The Salvation Army has kicked off its annual "Beat the Heat" campaign.

The program allows people in need across the Tennessee Valley to get free fans for their homes.
Kimberly George with the Salvation Army says many families are already struggling and helping them through this program makes a difference in their well being.   She says anyone can contribute.

The program lasts throughout the month of June.  Fans are available for pick up every Friday at the Salvation Army's Chattanooga warehouse.

Fans can also be picked up in the following areas on the day designated:.

Walker County
Walker County Convention Center 
1054 N. Hwy 27
Rock Springs, GA,
Monday June 9th, 9 AM - 12 PM

Marion County
204 West 3rd Street
South Pittsburg, TN
Monday, June 16th 9 AM - 12 PM CST

To apply for a free fan you need to have the following information:
  • Picture ID for person applying
  • Proof of income for everyone in the household
  • Food stamp award letter
  • Families First award letter
  • Proof of address, either a utility bill in your name, or 2 pieces of current mail
