Dalton's Matt Jones dives in knowing full well he'll soon be navigating new and uncharted waters in the Athletes Without Limits swimming competition later this week in Ecuador
"Yes, I think he's ready, he's worked hard, he's done a great job, he's very focused,"says proud mom Deanne Jones.
"I'm not concerned about anything, I don't get nervous whatsoever," says Matt quite confidently.
Jones' swim coach Andrea Baron is looking forward to her pupil's showing.
"I think Matt is totally ready, we just got done at Special Olympics at Emory, so he told me how that went, we tweaked a few things today," says Baron.
Going over his form, Matt knows he's got to be his best in a thoroughly new setting such as Ecuador
"Plus it's going to be a long course, its going to be outside and it's going to be hot," says Matt in his deadpan style.
Matt wouldn't make any brash predictions, neither would his coach
"Hopefully, we'll see a medal coming out of Ecuador for Matt but as long as he improves his time, I'm a happy coach," beams Baron, who adds
Matt's biggest competition may be his teammates, of the ten swimmers heading to Ecuador, 6 hail from North Georgia.
