Bus being used to feed youth during summer

Posted: Updated:

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Murfreesboro City Schools is using a specially designed bus to provide free breakfast and lunch to youth this summer.

According to The Daily News Journal (http://on.dnj.com/1ryiCHC), the bus program is referred to as CHOW, or Combating Hunger on Wheels.

It will serve five of the 16 sites designated under the summer feeding program.

The bus is a retired city schools bus. Some chairs have been removed to make room for portable coolers and trash cans, while the remainder will serve as café-style seating with tables.

Sandy Scheele supervises the city schools' food service program. She says as many as 40 children can be seated on the bus at once.
