Rossville man pleads guilty to money laundering

Posted: Updated:
A Rossville man pleaded guilty in Federal Court for his role in a money laundering scheme from Afghan contractors in Afghanistan.
The Department of Justice says 45-year-old James C. Pittman accepted nearly 250-thousand dollars, cash paid from overseas contractors to a friend from Clarksville, who was an Army Sergeant at Bagram Air Field, Afganistan.
The Clarksville man steered contracts to certain vendors, then sent the bribe money home, concealed in packages some accepted by Pittman.
Pittman is scheduled for sentencing in September.
