Judge won't block Lake City's name change to Rocky Top
A federal judge has ruled that Lake City can move forward with its plans to change its name to Rocky Top.
Judge Thomas Varlan issued his ruling on Wednesday, more than three weeks after hearing from the House of Bryant, Lake City officials and the developers who are looking to bring an attraction to that Anderson County town.
The House of Bryant, which owns the rights to the song "Rocky Top," had asked for a temporary injunction against the name change, saying it could do irreparable damage to the brand that family created. They also questioned whether an attraction in Lake City would even be built.
