Woman struck and killed by drunk driver

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday for a north Georgia native who was struck by an alleged drunk driver.

Sixty-five-year-old Jo Anna Hickman of Augusta was visiting at her daughter's home in Calhoun, and had planned to attend her grandson's graduation on Saturday at Heritage High School in Catoosa County.

According to Rome radio station, Hickman was reportedly standing at the mailbox when she was hit by a car, driven by 50-year-old Wanda Hogan of Calhoun.  

Hogan is charged with DUI and leaving the scene, and has since been charged with 1st degree vehicular homicide.  She remains in the Gordon County Jail, without bond.

Jo Anna Hickman was airlifted to Erlanger and later died. She was a 1967 graduate of Lakeview High. Her funeral will be Thursday morning at 11 at Lane Funeral Home in Rossville.
