Parents charged after child allegedly sniffed pain pill

Posted: Updated:
MCMINN COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - A two-year old from McMinn County is responding better than expected, after ingesting a pill last month.  Now the child's parents face charges.
Kenneth Hatfield and Rebecca Jones, turned themselves in to police on a grand jury indictment, Tuesday.
Both are charged with child abuse and neglect, and aggravated child endangerment.   Jones is also charged with aggravated child abuse.

Back in April, police were called to a house on County Road 850 after the mother found the child not breathing. The sheriff's report called the circumstances very suspicious.

The detective says the pill was  a combination of morphine and percocet.
The pair will appear in court next month.
