Driver walks away from car/train crash Thursday morning

DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

A driver narrowly escaped one train, only to be hit by a second train Thursday morning in Dalton.

The accident occurred at McFarland Avenue in Dalton, with the driver being able to walk away from the accident.
 
According to witness statements give to the Dalton Police, the driver of a silver Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on McFarland Avenue when he crossed the railroad tracks.

The gates were down and the lights were activated as two trains were approaching. The driver managed to miss the southbound train but was hit in the back quarter panel by the northbound train.

The car was dragged a short distance.
 
Investigators believe the driver was texting while driving which contributed to the crash.

The driver was not seriously injured but was being transported to Hamilton Medical Center for examination and treatment.
