I-24 EB re-opened after accident

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Interstate 24 Eastbound has re-opened  to through traffic Monday morning after a serious, multi-car accident forced police to close the roadway near Mile Marker 179 and Exit 180A/U.S. 27.

Traffic was being diverted to surface roads and back onto the interstate.

There’s currently no word on the motorists involved in the accident.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation Smartway website says traffic is flowing, but seeking an alternative route would be wise until the backlog of traffic has been mitigated.
