Gunter and Wright Win SBA Open High School Bass Tournament

Dayton, TN (WRCB) – Silverdale Baptist Academy High School hosted the Seahawks Open Bass Tournament at Dayton Boat Dock on Chickamauga Lake, Saturday May 17, 2014. Fifty-two kids representing four different high schools were entered in this event.

High school teams competing in this tournament were Grundy County, Rhea County, Silverdale Baptist Academy, and Soddy Daisy.

The team of Cody Gunter and Justin Wright, from Rhea County High, weighed in a 5 bass limit for 12.91 pounds to take the win.

Gunter said "The bite was real slow this morning but picked for us about mid day and that is when we caught the fish that we weighed in."

Big fish of the tournament weighed 4.29 pounds and was caught by Grundy County High School's Kyle Ingleburger and Kyle Palmer.

The top ten teams are as follows:

1st - Cody Gunter/ Justin Wright, Rhea County - 5 fish 12.91 lbs.
2nd - Nathan Shaver/ Dylan Pritchett, Rhea County - 5 fish 10.94 lbs.
3rd - Jesse Hooker/ Devin Wallis, Rhea County - 5 fish 10.48 lbs.
4th - Slater Daniel/ Eli Mitchell, Soddy Daisy - 4 fish 9.98 lbs.
5th - Samuel Morgan/ Eldon Posey, Grundy County - 4 fish 8.40 lbs.
6th - Kyle Ingleburger/ Kyle Palmer, Grundy County - 3 fish  8.04 lbs.
7th - Austin Goins/ Bryar Goins, Rhea County - 3 fish 7.90 lbs.
8th - Kayla Green/ Cody McGee, Grundy County - 3 fish 7.83 lbs.
9th - Noah Gadd, Silverdale Baptist Academy - 3 fish 7.81 lbs.
10th - Jacob Thomas/ Elijah Cartwright, Soddy Daisy - 3 fish 7.52 lbs.

Overall School Team Standings:

1st - Rhea County - 34.33 lbs.
2nd - Soddy Daisy - 24.56 lbs.
3rd - Grundy County - 24.27 lbs.
4th - Silverdale Baptist Academy - 12.47 lbs.
