State troopers and Franklin County Sheriff's deputies found a suspected murder victim in a car after a pursuit Saturday night.

Officials say just after 1 a.m., Franklin County deputies and the Tennessee Highway Patrol began a vehicle pursuit in the Estill Springs area, stemming from a suspected DUI driver.

The pursuit ended on Chase Bend Road.

The driver, 46-year-old Robert Troy Whipple, was apprehended by Sergeant Milton Binkley and the Highway Patrol.

During the arrest, Sgt. Binkley sustained a knife wound to the right hand and wrist. He was treated and later released from Southern Tennessee Medical Center.

Once Whipple was in custody, officials discovered a corpse in the passenger's seat of Whipple's vehicle.

The victim has been identified 46-year-old Bridgette Haley.

Her body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. Officials suspect her death was a homicide.

Whipple is in custody in the Franklin County Jail. He's being held without bail.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
