The Lucas 2 CPR device.
BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -
Emergency responders for the Bradley County EMS have a new life-saving tool.
The Lucas 2 is a device used during CPR emergencies to perform high quality chest compressions on a patient when emergency personnel determine that a victim has no heart beat and is not breathing.
Once in place, the Lucas device takes care of the necessary chest compressions, but allows paramedics to focus on other tasks for the patient.
“The key to a successful resuscitation begins with high quality CPR” Stan Clark, Bradley County EMS.
A news release from the Bradley County EMS says that the very first person in Bradley County that needed the new device was successfully revived and is doing well.
“The survival rates of coming back to life after being clinically dead is very low to begin with. It is exciting to see the advancements in technology and how the chances of survival are increased.” Stan Clark
Bradley County EMS has one Lucas device and hopes to acquire enough of them to stock one on each ambulance to serve the community.
