Second teen in Marion cyclist assault case gets probation, community service

MARION COUNTY, TN (Times Free Press) - The youngest of two Marion County teens charged in the January assault of cyclist Anders Swanson was sentenced today in Marion County Juvenile Court to probation and community service.

The teen, 14 at the time of the incident and charged with possession of a horn that made an “unreasonably loud or harsh sound,” appeared this morning in juvenile court where he was ordered to perform 10 hours of community service during a 60-day probationary period, according to court officials.

He must also pay court costs, officials said.

The 14-year-old was charged along with a 16-year-old whose case was settled last month with court orders to serve 90 days probation, perform 16 hours community service, pay court costs and submit to a drug test.
