CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
Chattanooga Police and the FBI are searching for the city's latest bank robbery suspect, "it's a white male, approximately five foot six to five foot seven, middle aged, probably between 40's, 50's," says CPD's Public Information Officer Timothy McFarland.
Less than five hours after the First Volunteer Bank branch on Highway 58 is hit by a robber, police release a photo of their suspect.
It all began around 10:15 Wednesday morning when the suspect gave a demand note to the bank teller. The robber got away on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, by scaling a fence behind the bank in his getaway.
Officer McFarland says this case isn't the first for highway 58 businesses of late. "I know yesterday morning, the Family Dollar next door was robbed as well so, we don't think it's the same suspect though."
"I'm very concerned, that's kinda scary, you know that's really scary and creepy, it's like its going down the line you know?" Shuntae White manages the Smoke-Mania shop next door to First Volunteer.
She worries whether the same suspect or not, if her business might be the next target for robbery. "There's police that stay over there at the KMart area, they like should drive up and down, you know to protect us," suggests White of the recent spike of robberies
"We're still trying to collect video from the area, possibly different businesses have him on video," says McFarland of the ongoing investigation.
