Rain ending, but more could return

Posted: Updated:

Widespread rain is tapering in the city, moving east and clearing our eastern counties by mid-to-late-morning. It's been heavy in some areas, prompting Flash Flood Warnings in Alabama and Georgia. Be particularly careful near small rivers, creeks, and streams.

This batch of rain has been in advance of a low pressure system approaching the Tennessee Valley from the south. This system moves through the region later today, possibly producing more showers this afternoon. Winds will be gusty at times, too, with highs in the mid-60s. Gusts could reach to 40+ mph from eastern Monroe County east into North Carolina.

Expect average rain totals of around 1"-3" through Monday afternoon. Some spots of patchy drizzle and fog may develop later today and this evening with lows in the mid-40s.

Tuesday brings a chance for some more showers, mainly in the afternoon and evening with highs in the low-60s. Sunshine returns Wednesday with highs in the mid-60s. Warmer weather comes back later in the week! Look for fair skies Thursday through Sunday with lows in the 40s and 50s, highs climbing to the upper 70s by the weekend. Unfortunately, pollen will probably be on the rise again.
