ATHENS, Ala. – Mark and Melissa Wilson won the Toyota Tundra American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Tennessee East Division 5 tournament, held April, 5, 2012, on Lake Chickamauga.

Running out of Chester Frost Park near Chattanooga, the team caught 5 bass weighing 21.55 pounds Melissa won the women's big fish prize with a nice 3.75 pound largemouth. For the victory, they earned a check for $450.00. The Wilson's caught their fish ‘just junk fishing' with rattle baits, square bill crank baits, chatter baits and soft plastic creature baits.

In second for the teams, Clay and Debbie Smith of Hixson, TN, caught 4 bass weighing 21.38 pounds with a giant 7.74 pound kicker. They caught their fish on jigs and pocketed a check for $$300.00. Clay also won the men's big fish pot with the 7.74 pound largemouth.

Taking third place, the team of Jared and Rachel Sullivan of Hixson, TN, caught 5 bass weighing 18.20 pounds.

All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Although many married couples compete together as teams, some teams consist of boyfriend and girlfriend combinations, parent-child combinations or just two friends. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent's written permission.

The next divisional tournament will be held May 3, 2014 on Chickamauga Lake out of Chester Frost Park near Chattanooga, TN. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
