UPDATE: Bradley Co. District Attorney accused of assault
UPDATE: On April 4, 2014, a former Assistant District Attorney, Cynthia Lecroy Schemel, filed a complaint against District Attorney Steve Bebb alleging a misdemeanor assault on April 2, 2014.
Cleveland Police Department stated in a news release that they filed an offense report and then referred the case to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to investigate the complaint.
The incident is being treated as an active investigation by both agencies.
PREVIOUS STORY: The District Attorney of Bradley County is under fire, after a colleague claims he assaulted her. Police confirm Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Schemel filed a report with the Cleveland Police Department Saturday, against District Attorney Steve Bebb.
A spokesperson for the department would not confirm details of the report, saying it's not yet complete. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also confirms it was made aware of a report being filed, but as of right now, it is not involved in the case.
Channel 3 reached out to both Bebb and Schemel; they declined to comment about the incident.
