Lookouts First Pitch Nets 2 Year Old 10K

Posted: Updated:

Chattanooga 2 year old Hayden Hudgens got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Lookouts' Saturday night home game against the Jackson Generals, but it almost didn't happen, thanks partly to the little girl's fear of team mascot Louie.

Prior to the game, we spoke with Hayden and her mother Lauren, but our interview came to a crying halt when Hayden saw the Lookouts' team mascot. "She doesn't like Louie, he scares her," said Lauren as Hayden began crying.

Hayden was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Her parents have taken to the internet to help defray the expenses associated with battling the cancer.

True to form, Hayden got over her butterflies and threw a ground ball to Seattle Mariners pitcher Stephen Pryor, who lives here in Chattanooga in the off-season. Pryor is Hayden's uncle and has helped his neice by sharing with teammates "Pray for Hayden" bracelets for the ongoing fundraiser.

Shortly after Hayden's throw, representatives from Brown's Ferry Marina and Physician's Care both donated $5,000 dollars for "Hay Hay's" medical expenses.
