Flames' Skipper Brew Gets 400th Win

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND, Miss. (GoLeeFlames.com)- Lee University head baseball coach Mark Brew reached a milestone on Saturday afternoon when his Flames handed 12th-ranked Delta State a 5-3 defeat. All the news was not good from Ferriss Field. Lee dropped a 9-0 decision to the Statesmen on Friday and then fell 11-1 in the nightcap of Saturday's twinbill.

Brew is in his ninth year as the head man at Lee. His current record stands at 400-104-1, an average of over 44 victories per season. His current Flames stand at 23-15 and 10-11 in Gulf South Conference play. Delta State improved to 24-7 and 19-4 against conference opponents.

"We are learning quickly how tough this league is," stressed Brew. "We gave up 23 runs on the weekend with 14 of those being in the first inning. Delta State is extremely aggressive and they put us on our heels early. We have to be more prepared when we go to the mound than what we were most of the weekend."
